Great stop when hiking up the col de Balme. The rosti was fantastic. Don’t forget to reserve a piece of plumb tart. They go fast and are made from local plums…can not be missed.
Early the morning up from Champex Lac I jokingly ask the hiker passing us on way down if there's a restaurant at the top, and he says yes and that the pie is excellent. He was so right. Absolutely stunning views and the most excellent peach pie. All with the bovine bells chiming next to us. Wish I could get this back home in Colorado!
Hands down the best rösti I've ever eaten. Get it even if you don't feel hungry – it is to die for. The cakes are pretty special too.
The place itself is also absolutely charming. One of the quanitest refuges we saw on the entire TMB.
It is important to know, because we couldn't find this info in any other reviews, that they only take cash, but will accept both CHF and EUR.
Pittoresque refuge de montagne où le temps semble s’être arrêté. Le pique-nique est autorisé. Les desserts sont copieux et délicieux. Le personnel, assez jeune est sympathique et bienveillant.
Vues magnifiques sur les sommets environnants et Matigny-Combe dans la vallée.
Entouré de pâturages où les Hérens sont ici chez elles.
Un appréciable moment de détente à savourer.
Piccolo alpeggio a 2000m dove il personale, molto gentile e cordiale, si ferma i mesi estivi e trascorre il tempo in totale relax e lavoro.
Abbiamo preso solo 2 pezzi di torta e pagato 8,00€.
C’è una fontana dove si può ricaricare la borraccia però il cellulare non si può ricaricare perché tutt’a la struttura è alimentata da pannelli fotovoltaici che servono al loro sostentamento.
Ci hanno raccontato che gli alimenti vengono trasportati su con l’elicottero una volta al mese.
La vista mozzafiato rende la sosta ancora più gradevole soprattutto se ci si ferma per mangiare.

Very nice place to stop with apricot and apple pies and crumbles, cheeses and meats - all produced by their cows that you see grazing the mountain pastures. Amazing views of the mountains. A great place to stop after a taxing uphill effort!
Absolutely dreadful experience. We stopped to rest after a long time walking in very steep terrain and the owner told us that we could either consume or leave. We left but asked if we could take water from the tap. He told us we could but it was disgustingly dirty. Overall very unkind behaviour.
And about the beauty, there are far more beautiful places in the area.
Um oásis na trilha, tem uma cozinha completa para atendimento aos trilheiros. O ambiente interno, ainda que rústico, é aconchegante e cheira a forno à lenha.
Com um cardápio básico, mesmo porque não é muito fácil a logística para manter a cozinha abastecida, atende bem â demanda de calorias de quem caminhou horas de subida, com a vantagem de provar um pouco da matéria prima suíça local
É um lugar que merece uma pausa para relaxamento, rebastecimento
