This place has become a go to for coffee and a small bite whenever I have guests. The atmosphere is lovely and the owners have always been kind, welcoming and chatty whenever I’ve been in. The coffee is delicious and well presented. Every person we have taken to this cafe has said how wonderful it is. The owners are really receptive to talking about the cafe and I often ask about the garden and appreciate the effort they have put into making it so lovely. The wild flowers last year were stunning! The addition of the cover for the outside has been a game changer and it was lovely to sit outside even when it was chilly. I have seen comments about the cafe not being child-friendly and I don’t agree. I have taken my nieces and nephew in here a few times and the owners have been lovely to them. I look forward to visiting again soon and can’t wait to see the changes. I am especially excited to sit in the garden with a delicious coffee!
Kent’s best kept secret. Beyond having the best coffee/small bites/service in whitstable, Alleyway is beautifully decorated and every detail is thoughtfully done. Not only is the couple who run it kind and lovely, but they have wonderful taste and truly poured their hearts into this space. You step from a random alleyway in a residential area into…a charming cafe in France. The music, decor, plants and entire atmosphere are so charming and done with such care and expertise. There’s a community feel but you’re given your space to relax, it’s dog friendly but not loaded with dogs, and while welcoming to all, it seems to be just out of reach of the DFL crowd on Saturdays. I can’t praise everything about this space more highly.
Beautiful café! Lots of different types of coffee available and really good coffee too. Lovely outdoor seating space, highly recommend.
Lovely owners and nice vibes in the cafe! We had a breakfast there with nice salad and coffee! The coffee was really tasty and the baked goods were great as well. Toilet was really nice and attention to detail from the owners from the atmosphere to their baked goods were great! We really enjoyed it :)! The only small negative was the high price. I thought as a breakfast it could have been a bit cheaper so that we could have come back again :(
Beautiful boutique French coffee shop and cafe! Wonderful little family run business delivering a very high quality service in a beautiful setting. The coffee is great and selection of cafe foods and the daily lunch exceptional. Would highly recommend a visit for any coffee lover coming to whitstable!
As to the lady who submitted a 2* review - acceptable toddler behaviour does not include giving your 2 year old a bucket to collect peddles from the stone pebble walkway and then allowing them to throw those pebbles at other customers trying to enjoy their stay - unacceptable and extremely poor parenting!
I accidentally came across this Hidden Gem when my dog pulled me inside. He can obviously read as the Sign says 'dogs welcome', so in he went. What a lovely surprise it was. It is most welcoming and so pretty, a lovely place to have coffee /pastries and lunch. Lovely friendly owners. I would love to keep it my little secret , but its too nice a place not to share. I will happily drive from Canterbury to visit here. Definitely 5*s from me. Good luck to you both with this new venture. My new place to chill out :)
