Ted is the best mechanic on the planet. He's been doing this forever, he knows every type of car forwards, backwards, and neutral!
If you're looking for someone who will not overcharge you, Ted is your guy. My family has been going to him since before I was born, and now I go to him too. His honesty, hard work, and knowledge of the trade are second to none.
Do yourself a favor and take your car in to see Ted. Your car will never be happier and you'll never look back.
All-Automotive is tops. Ted knows all makes, models and years and secretly has the best equipment in that little off-the-beaten path garage set back 100 feet from Western Ave. He talks about how long you plan to own the vehicle before recommending repairs. Doesn't upsell, doesn't misrepresent. Because it's only Ted, plus his highly capable associate, Eddy, repair turnaround is not immediate but he's darn efficient. Prices are very, very reasonable. Repeat, very, very reasonable. He's keeping my 21-year-old Toyota Highlander humming along and seven-year-old Subaru Forester running just right. His recommendations on auto body work and tires are excellent. (Take your vehicle to a dealer service dept and get their repair evaluation and pricing. Then take it to Ted and get his evaluation and pricing. When you stop laughing and cursing, give him the keys. Enough said.)
All of the good things the other reviews say are true! I had been having issues with a rough idle, and after another mechanic had told me they would only look at it if the problem were actively occurring (the problem goes away after driving for a few minutes, so this was not possible), I took it here. Ted inspired confidence and trust from the very beginning. He was extremely kind and respectful, and gave my vehicle earnest care and effort. Even though it was not the easiest diagnostic, he worked with me to figure out the issue (dirty throttle body). He even picked me up and drove me back to the shop to pick up my vehicle so that I did not miss a Zoom meeting. And the price was truly more than fair! If any business is deserving of five stars, it is this one. I will be back.
They communicated well before my appointment and knew exactly what I wanted before dropping off the car. Then contacted me with any issues and even followed up after the car was back home to make sure it was up to my expectations, which it was.
I had a squeak coming from one of my wheels and wanted to find a new, more HONEST repair shop. (The last place I went to kept finding expensive repairs that may or may not have really needed to be done. ) Looked at the stellar reviews for All Automotive and saw it was near me. I called Ted and made an appt the first thing this morning for him to take a look.
I came in and Eddie helped me right away. We took the car for a short drive to find the squeak while we talked about what it might be. He said the brake pads looked pretty good so it wasn't that. I told him that my last mechanic probably would've try to sell me new brakes. Eddie then told me a story of how they saved a customer from a $1400 exhaust system repair from another shop. He said that there wasn't anything in the exhaust system that should cost that much. It turned out to be a missing $1 clip on the gas line.
We got back to the shop and Eddie took off my tire and found the problem. A little rust had formed on the rim of my brake and it was rubbing on something. He chipped a bit off while I watched. It wasn't doing any harm and he said that eventually the rust would wear away and fall off by itself. (The one time ignoring a problem really would make it go away.)
I asked Eddie how much I owed them. He spent a solid half hour with me, found the problem, and eased my mind. Eddie checked with Ted, and Ted came out and said "You're good to go!" I couldn't believe how kind and generous that was!!! He said just bring my car back next time I need some work. I think I finally found a repair shop I can trust!
Just one note: Their shop is off an alleyway in some converted garages. It is not fancy. It doesn't seem to have a waiting area and there is no fancy Keurig to dispense the beverage of your choice. (Although there is a McD's across the street.) It has the cluttered, grungy look of a place where 2 hard-working honest mechanics, who have to keep a mental inventory of where they last laid their tools, do their best to help folks in need. I don't think anyone could go wrong taking their car to Ted and Eddie.
After years of searching for a reliable, trustworthy, and experienced mechanic, I finally found my place. Ted (the owner) got back to me right away after having left a message. When I brought my car in, Eddie inspected it thouroughly and honestly told me the work I should have done in the future, without exaggerating the timeframe. I had originally brought in for a quote on brake pads and rotors and he said my brake pads were relatively new, and I should get rotors soon, but they still had life left. He didn't tell me I needed 4 sets of brake pads and rotors, like the crooks I went to prior!!! Eddie's diagnostic skills are SPOT ON! I'm so relieved I found a place I can trust! Grateful times 100!!!!! THANKS!!!
Ted has worked on our cars for years, because he's honest and fair. Very often we have NOT actually needed the repairs recommended by other shops! And Eddie is also a very talented mechanic.
There is no one else that I would ever take my vehicles to. Ted is fast, professional, friendly and provides great service at reasonable rates. You can't go wrong here!
