Don’t even continue your search. Just come here to Al’s! Rich is the owner & he is an amazing man, and by the time you leave, you will call him your friend. That’s just how kind he is and so is Mike the Office Manager. Sincerely two of the greatest guys I’ve ever met. Their work is top notch. Everyone who works on cars here knows this industry. They are professionals & stand behind their work. This is a family owned business & they treat you like family.
Ladies… you will feel very secure in coming here without knowledge of what it all entails and costs. Rich & Mike will be 200% honest. They will never try to inflate the cost of anything or make you feel less than because you don’t know car stuff.
This is the ONLY place I will ever bring my car when it needs to be fixed. Rich, Mike & all the guys who work here are solid good people. They will always do right by you. They do real good work and are very professional. They used to be in Dolton Illinois years ago and did business with them back then.
I chose Al's because I wanted to support local and they had good google reviews. After my experience with them, I have no idea how they have such positive reviews. (Side note, other review sites aren't as positive).
I had an accident and stopped by Al's for an estimate. I was told they just had an opening the following week so we agreed that I would drop it off on July 10th. Two weeks later I hadn't heard anything so I called. I was told that they were waiting on a part and it would be in the following Tuesday and my car would be done the end of that week. The next week comes and I call again. I was given the EXACT same story. This continued, I kid you not, for EIGHT straight weeks. I called at the beginning of every week and was told the exact same story. My husband stopped in a few times and was told the same thing. I only had rental coverage with my insurance until August 12 which I thought was plenty of time. I was then paying $231 per WEEK out of my own pocket for a rental car. My husband told them this and the guy literally shrugged his shoulders and said "not my fault". One time when I called and mentioned this the girl that answered was very rude and said "yep, you and everyone else". My car was in the shop, pulled apart and basically held hostage this entire time.
Finally on September 12 my husband called to let them know that we were going to have it towed to another shop for repairs. Suddenly, low and behold, the manager said to give him an hour and he will find the part. He called my husband back an hour later and said he found the part and would have it the next day. My car was then finished and ready for pickup on Sept 26. So my car was in that shop from July 10 to Sept 26 and we had to threaten to take it somewhere else to finally get it back.
As a side note, we had previously taken our daughter's car there for a paint job (only the hood and trunk) and they had it for more than 6 weeks. They told her that the painter had broken his hand so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and believed their story. Now I feel like that's one of their standard stories that they must tell everyone.
They have zero communication. If you call and they don't answer they have an answering machine but they never call back. They give no updates on how things are going, ever. I asked the car rental place about their experience with Al's and was told that they are known to be the slowest shop around and they had 10 other customers in my same situation and they knew of a customer whose car had been in there for 8 months before it was returned. We have 4 vehicles and have learned our lesson with Al's, we will never use them again.
I had a deck lid that needed to be clear coated. I was able to just bring it in and they got it done fast. It looks great, will be bringing more items to them in the future.
Al's Body Shop did an excellent job in repairing my vehicle. Plus the fact they were the most reasonable in the area. I would recommend them to anyone. Unfortunately due to high volume there is a 2 month wait.
Everyone at Al's did a phenomenal job on my car. I just wanted my bumpers repainted and fixed up (one had a crack, one was rock chipped and scraped) and they absolutely nailed it. Awesome responsiveness, great work, and incredibly nice people. Highly recommend them.
I have used Al's Auto Body numerous times and recommended them to friends and family. They do top notch work, pay attention to detail and are very fair. I refuse to go anywhere else for body repairs on my vehicles.
