We decided to try lunch today. It was amazing. Mushroom Swiss Burger with upgraded side of onion rings, Philly Wrap with green beans and a ????. Best burger I've had in Waukon! Charbroiled, juicy, perfectly cooked on a fresh bun!
This is a nice little restaurant. It seems like the interior is still in progress, as it's brand new, so I would follow in its progression. The staff were friendly, but still new as well. The food is alright, but lacking the "Steakhouse" experience. It feels more like a local diner experience to me, with simple food presentations (see photo) and taste palettes. It's not what I expect from the word "Steakhouse", and not quite my style of restaurant.
If i could rate this under 1 star I would. A place that advertising as a steak house but really it is a bar and grill with only one steak on the menu that is so overwhelming priced. Service was nice but the food says other wise. My Mahi Mahi was stone cold in the center and the mashed potatoes looked like wallpaper paste and was very flavorless. The sweet corn was cold like out of the fridge cold. My guest meal was not any better with fries that tasted like they where under a hot lamp for hours and over cooked shrimp and scallops that tasted dated. Not to mentioned we waited almost a hour to receive our meal with the place dead as a door nail. I won't be coming back

My food was average to below average. .
Portabella Mushrooms were good ,but we're over salted nearly ruined them. I also ordered a salad which was average. A smaller portion with no pizzazz added chicken and it was bland,
pictured below.
Karaoke DJ was playing country tunes..
Very delicious! Mildly pricey, but you know where your money went. We will definitely be back!
Friendly staff and a tasty steak. The wife ordered the chicken wrap with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. This was also very tasty.
We attended my sister and her husband's 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration at AJ Steakhouse recently and it was Perfect...The staff (waitresses, waiter and bartender ) provided excellent service.. Compliments to the chief...There were 30+ in attendance and we all ordered off the menu. Food was served in a timely manner and was Delicious !!! The next time we are in the area we definitely will want to visit this establishment again.....
***Update*** They play country music. This is atrocity will not stand. The appetizers are still amazing, however the rest of the dishes quality has definitely decreased. The service is still great.
To be brutally honest as usual, this is one of the best restaurants in the area. I hope the quality last after the initial wave of "new place to eat" vanishes. I had the tomahawk steak, perfectly cooked. The table got appetizers and boy are the appetizers amazing; I recommend the portobello fingers and the onion rings. The burgers are the best I have ever eaten in waukon.
