**Restaurant Review: Mixed Experience**
I recently dined at African Base Restaurant, and while the food was exceptional, the overall experience was a bit mixed.
Let's start with the positives - the food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the grilled tilapia fish for £28, which came with a side of salad, plantain, and two delightful sauces. It was easily a 10/10 in terms of taste and presentation.
However, the service left much to be desired. My friend and I were disappointed by the attitude of one particular server. Their demeanor was quite off-putting, especially considering it was my first time at the restaurant. Despite this, the delicious food managed to compensate for the less-than-pleasant service experience.
In conclusion, while I would highly recommend the food at African Base Restaurant, I hope they address the issue of customer service to ensure a more enjoyable dining experience for all patrons.
Great Nigerian and Ghanian Dishes!
I visited whilst the AFCON and the atmosphere was nice.
We ordered the following and have rated them;
Kenkey and fish 8/10
Fried rice w chicken 7/10
Ghanian jollof w chicken 7/10
As for the service, it could definitely do with one more waitress as there was only one lady working. And to please make sure customers are greeted upon arrival and taken to a table.
Apart from that I would recommend as the waitress was friendly and the food was decent
I have been ordering from and dining at African Base for at least a year now and at this point, I doubt I'll be getting food from there again. Their service is the absolute worst and the wait time for food (especially during the weekend) is insane. You have to wait for at least an hour most of the time. They also have no orderly way of keeping tabs on orders so sometimes you have to ask or remind them of your order. My partner called just yesterday to place an order for pick-up, and the lady that took the order was having a conversation with someone else while taking the order, which is COMPLETELY unprofessional. When he went to pick up the order about 45 minutes later, it turned out that the lady had not even made the kitchen aware of it so we ended up ordering food from somewhere else. With this approach to business, I doubt that this restaurant is going to grow. They have personally lost me and my partner as customers because we've have enough of this behaviour and we've even personally complained to the manager about their service before (which obviously yielded no positive results).
Apart from their service and wait times, their food is quite good and the portion sizes are reasonable hence my 2 star rating.
I wish I can give everything a 6 star. The fufu and groundnuts soup is a top notch. My wife took banku with okro stew which she said it was just on point.
Don’t order take away from this place rubbish service everything was burnt and smelly rubbish service they don’t even deserve my 1 star
Food was very nice but they had run out of half the menu, so we didn’t get to try what we really wanted. It wasn’t very busy but somehow food still took about 2 hours to come!!! But the real issue was the service, lady at the front was so unbothered, genuinely everything took about 4x as long as it should have and really isn’t great for the business.
FIRST OF ALL, WE AFRICANS NEED TO STOP THINKING WE ALL FRIENDS AND THERE ISN'T SUCH THING OF CUSTOMERS!! WE ORDERED AND WAITED FOR ALMOST 2 HOURS FOR THE FOOD. THE FRONT HOUSE SERVICE IS A JOKE NOT TO SAY DOESN'T EXIST. THE GIRL TAKING ORDER IS RUDE AND GOT NOT MANNERS OR SKILLS TO BE AT THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE.
THE MANAGER, WELL...thats another story ????THE FOOD OK,BUT PRICEY.
*Avoid this place, go to town, get better service, and your money will go along way*
If you are a young person between 18-25 I strongly discourage you from coming here. Ive been here twice and waited 1.5-2 hours for my meal both times. Theres no order to food processing because any older customer is immediately prioritised before you. Upon enquiry, my complaint was hastily brushed aside with no apology.
