Their vehicles are in horrible condition, their time estimates are way off, and they charge obscene rates. Everything that sucks about Uber without any of the convenience (Uber will save you 50% however). Avoid at all costs.
I reserved an executive sedan to take me from the Albany train station to Saratoga Springs for $124 paid the day before when I made the reservation. I arrive at 8:30 pm and no car to be found. I wait around for 10 minutes (it's 20 degrees out) and still no car. So I decide to take one of the taxis out front and deal with the charge on my card later. As I approach the taxi, the dispatcher for Advantage tells me I cannot take one of the taxis, which are owned by Advantage. I just want to get to my hotel, I'm tired and get into an old mini van owned by Advantage that the dispatcher called over. I reserved a $124 car to have a nice safe ride to my hotel in this winter weather. I did not have a nice safe ride. We spun out on the highway, had to drive extremely slow due to the poor condition of this mini van. It was not the driver's fault, he was really nice. Needless to say, a poor experience with Advantage and I highly recommend not using them if you can avoid them. Luckily my credit card company will strike this charge from my account and I tipped the driver nicely as he was professional and empathetic to the situation.
UNABLE TO GIVE ZERO STARS OR I WOULD HAVE!!! As someone who is in the customer service business I would be doing an injustice if I didn’t express and share the horrible experience I have had by using this vendor! (and I will say I’ve never written a bad review as I understand how destructive this can be to a company) I booked this vendor as my transportation service for my wedding- the most important day of my life. The direction was simple, bring my guests from their hotel to the venue and then at the end of the night bring them back to the hotel and return to the venue for the entire wedding party to bring them back to a separate location. First two pick up’s completed and then who knows what happened, I still have never been given the same answer from anyone in management. My entire bridal party was left stranded at the wedding venue, standing out in the dark parking lot, cold and forgotten about. I was MORTIFIED! I had rented a Bed & Breakfast for the bridal party to be brought to for the “after party” – which included a bonfire, drinks and catered food service. Needless to say, after 2 ½ hours waiting for transportation (as I was told “they will be there in 10 minutes” every time I called to check on their services or else I would have made other arrangements) my DJ himself returned to get us. Well by the time we ended up back to our location, the food was cold, the guests were tired and annoyed and my evening was over. I will give credit for them refunding me my money (that was without question since they didn’t follow through with their services) however it’s beyond that. The money invested in the after party was a complete waste (everyone just wanted to go to bed) and a bride’s night was ruined! Please, if you are ever thinking of using this vendor for transportation for any important event- think twice. I would NEVER wish this experience on anyone!!!
Arranged service the day before to ensure we would be picked up to return to the train station on time Service was scheduled for 10AM. I was told I would get a call from the driver and they would be there 5 to 10 minutes early. At 10, I called and was told the driver was minutes away. At 10:10 with no driver I called and was told they were rerouting a different driver because the first one was delayed with a passenger. Why they didn’t know this at 10, I’m not sure. I was told the driver was 9 minutes out. At 10:25 I called back and was told he was still 3 miles away. I finally got a call from the driver at 10:32 and of course he was in the wrong location. We finally got picked up and barely made our train.
As to the person whose review talked about the good service he had, don’t assume that is indicative of everyone else. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
I used to own a transportation company and wouldn’t stand for the reviews that I see posted here. Let’s see if the only thing that they can do right is to refund my money. As much as it pains me to say it, this is one of the reasons that Uber has taken over in some markets.
To put it simply, my experience using Advantage was excellent. I'm surprised by some of the other reviews I've seen. I booked a van to take a trip up to Saratoga racetrack from Albany There were eight of us and we had a big cooler and a number of other miscellaneous items. Everything and everyone fit perfectly with room to spare. The van was exceptionally clean and our driver was fantastic and knew some of the back ways to get us there faster.
I even made a mistake on the pick up address which I realized five minutes before the van was supposed to arrive, and the staff was amazing and completely understanding. I will absolutely use Advantage again for our trip next year.
The shuttle driver had was very relaxed and had a great attitude. His driving was fast but safe and the price was on par with other services I've used in the past in this area. He was one of the best drivers I've had in the Capital region thus far.
I can't speak to their limo service or their other drivers.
After reading so many negative reviews, I have to give credit where credit is due. Kudos to the Advantage dispatcher who handled my request for a pick up on 11/10/17 to take a client to the Albany-Renssealer Amtrak station for his return trip to Buffalo. I don't remember the woman's name who answered my call, but she was very, very pleasant, and very professional. She answered the phone like she was taking calls for the president of a Fortune 500 company! As promised, the taxi was at the front of my office building at the time I requested. I even got a call from the taxi driver that she was outside waiting. It's unfortunate that the actions of a few employees who work for Advantage ruin it for so many others who try to do the right thing by treating their customers with respect and consideration. Please be sure to acknowledge the Nice Lady who answered my call on 11/10/17 and do whatever you can to keep her on your payroll. People like her will help to give your business the recognition it deserves.
Terrible company.the driver almost killed us on icy roads, speeding. Then, they left me stranded for 2 hrs, lied and hung up on me when I called to ask if I was getting picked up. My medical insurance booked them and I had no option but to wait in the freezing rain. They crammed me in a van with way too many people. This company treats sick people like garbage and exploits insurance companies. its better to walk than put your life in their reckless hands.
