Found out about this place because my coworker got their hair done by them. Looked like they did great work. So I booked an appointment and even sent pics of what I wanted. Got my hair braided by her sister. Her grip was so tight and I told her multiple times not to tighten my hair. It shouldn’t hurt to get knotless I know this because Im a licensed braider myself. She said she knew knotless but most of the braids have knots. She added too much hair and this made my head heavy. The parting at the front wasn’t the greatest I didn’t want to look at the back. I was desperate and needed a braider in Seattle and I didn’t want to do my own hair, I travelled all the way to Lakewood to do my hair and was greatly dissatisfied. I asked for small braids and she gave me almost large. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go here they don’t really care about you. Taking my hair down after a week and a half after I had budgeted for it to last me 2months. Worst $200 I’ve ever spent. It baffles me how they stay in business. ????
These young ladies in the shop are so bomb and professional. They made me feel at home and they did a fantastic job. I’ll be back five stars.
Excellent job with my braids. Be willing to tolerate the stylish talking on the phone in their native tongue the entire time. Pretty loud in your ears. No debit machine even though it's 2023. At first she said she didn't have a cash app. But later she said that I could put the, remaining balance on there. Bossy ,Told me that I should answer my phone the morning of the appointment. My phone isn't my whole life.
The jokes on me because I kept going back thinking that things would get better, but I only played myself! ????
I’ve been going to Adja’s salon for about a year now and things were going well up until I got braided by one of her other stylists. She made my cornrows so tight that my hairline receded not to mention how uneven the cornrows were. I notified Adja that I was unhappy with the feel and look of the style to which she apologized profusely on behalf of her stylist stating that this would never happen again. I told her if she or her sister are unavailable to do my hair I’d rather not come to which she agreed.
Fast forward to a couple of months later I’m wanting to embark on a locs journey. Why I decided to come to this salon instead of going to proper loctician - even I don’t have the answer to this question. Nevertheless her sister (whom I believe is the stylist we’re always told comes from Olympia) started my locs - told me to not wash my hair for 3 months and applied way more product than needed = worst kind of buildup - but don’t be fooled this wasn’t the last straw that broke the camels back. ????
I recently went back to get a retwist because its cheaper - again this is me playing myself! ????‍????Did Adja not try to use the same stylist whom had made my hairline disappear?! I said I’d rather leave if she or her sister are unavailable to do my hair, the stylist walked off saying something in French and Adja said her sister would do my hair. She still tried to convince me that it was a different style and it wouldn’t be the same - so I should let the other stylist do my hair and I still said no. I still felt terrible because I wasn’t trying to make the other stylist feel bad - I just didn’t want her doing my hair and I had this conversation with her employer so I thought I’d never be in this predicament, but alas.
My locs were re-twisted, but are still unraveling and again way too much product (holding gel spray) was applied to my hair. I’ve wasted my time, my money and made to feel incredibly uncomfortable in this salon.
I’ve since washed my hair out and doing the right thing by going to a proper loctician. I don’t know why it took me this long to stop playing myself. ????
Point is - you’ll get the service you’re paying for. Affordable, but at the expense of your hair and peace (not going to go into the loud conversations and music).
I strongly recommend to NOT do it. I promise you’ll find other reasonably priced salons with better customer service.
My family and I have been coming here for over 10 years and they take good care of us all. Grateful to have found this gem!
Everyone here is kind and respectable. I’ve been getting my hair done at Adja’s for the past two years, and they always have me out of there quickly and looking FABULOUS. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. You can tell that the women there, care about you and what your desired look! Grateful to have found this spot!.
A few minutes ago I went into the salon at 0952 as I had an appointment at 10 am. My head was not touched until 1025. The “owner” as she identified herself informed me that the style I picked was not good for my hair thickness or lack thereof. So she says that she recommended a different style. I decide to listen but informed her that I would have to reschedule because that particular style would take longer than what I planned for. She informed me that the person who was actually doing my hair was the female who had just arrived to the shop at 1025 and she drove all the way from Olympia. I’m assuming this was supposed to guilt me into staying. So basically your worker was running late. That whole time I was relaxed and waited thinking I was waiting on the owner to come over and do my hair because she said give her 10 more minutes but really she was waiting for her stylist to get there. Instead of arguing with her I decided to just leave at this point she proceeds to tell me to get out ???? even though I was actually already leaving. Just a really rude individual and I should’ve not tried to go hoping I would have a better experience than the other people who wrote the most recent reviews. I should’ve went off of the reviews and not even bothered. Hopefully this helps someone else. Not punctual and lacks customer service skills, seems to be only concerned about the money. Military personnel stationed in the area I highly recommend you don’t waste your time, money or energy here hoping for a different outcome than the reviews like I did.
The experience at this place is horrible! I have been booing appointments with them I arrive in time, but they let me wait without saying a word. They keep on talking. All the time I have been there it is like that. Ladies change. Respect your customers.
