Best KPortal Reviews

You can tell what type of restaurant you’re at from the moment the waiter greets you. And I knew when our waiter Rock greeted us that I would be giving this restaurant a five star review. He was clearly a professional and knew everything there was to know about the restaurant and the menu. There’s a difference between a professional and just a weight staff. It says the tone for what the meal will be like. He listened to us and got exactly what we wanted. We didn’t wait for anything. The food was outrageously good. From the black brioche bread and charred orange butter to the steamed mussels and the shrimp and avocado salad. It was all delicious. The drinks were lovely and the atmosphere is great. You can see from the receipt what we paid for the meal. Honestly, compared to the other places that we went to in the Alexandria area. This was a reasonably priced restaurant with all of the elements for a great meal.
This spot had been on my list to try for a while now, and I'm so glad I finally made it. I'm glad I didn't reserve a table, as I believe to have had the best seat in the restaurant, right infront of the wood burning pits, and watching this kitchen rock and roll on a Friday evening rush, was true entertainment. The food came out fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. Loved everything we ordered. They just started a happy hour menu, and I ordered everything on it, and more. The Octopus was so tender and melted in the mouth, so tender and succulent. The service from the hostess Andrea to our waiters Nick and Edwin, were exceptional. Will definitely be coming back here soon.
The seats and food were terrible. We were seated near the pathway to the back. While I was seated, over 200 people walked by me. It made me feel dizzy. I asked to change seats, but the receptionist denied my request even though there were many empty tables. They said they were all reserved, but I don’t think so. It was 4 p.m. I left the restaurant before 5 p.m.
The food was also terrible. I ordered a burger, and it was burned on one side. It tasted bitter. I left most of it. I will not return here.
This was the first time I have ever been here and it was nothing but AMAZING. We had a party of 7 and we were seated in the back party room. Our server was very attentive and patient. I was in awe of the brunch menu. So many options! I 10/10 recommend this restaurant and everything we ordered was delicious!
We ordered:
Beef Tartare
Wood Fire Chicken Thighs
Grilled Shrimp and Avocado Salad
Pork Schnitzel
House Ground Prime Dry Aged Burger
Steam Blue Muscles
This place is top-notch. 60-day dry aged ribeye for me was cooked to perfection. The wood fire lets you get the smoke from the logs as well as that smoke from the fat when it drips on the hot coals. Seared tuna for my wife was also great. Their wasabi was the perfect amount of zip. The hashbrown pave' was outstanding. After consulting an expert on how that is prepared, it reinforced my opinion that Ada's wasn't taking shortcuts that would sacrifice quality. Atmosphere was excellent. We had the booth/table combo, which allowed me to watch all the action on the open kitchen line while my wife got to enjoy great views of the Potomac. Service was very good. If you check the stars on the break down, you'll see that I only gave it a 4. Should have been a 4.75. Just little things, wasn't asked if I wanted to start with a drink. Jeez, that sounds petty. A little like I might need to rethink some of my life choices as well. The waiter was friendly, prompt, and very knowledgeable of the menu. In summary, if you decline an invitation to Ada's, you have done yourself a disservice.
I went here once for brunch and on another occasion for dinner. The brunch visit was exceptional- all the staff, from the hostess to server, we interacted with were great and the food was good. My dinner visit wasn't quite as positive. Our server was still great as was the food, but my interaction with who I am assuming was a FoH manager or GM and employees at the hostess stand were unpleasant. Upon entering no one at the hostess desk or manager acknowledged us. They just stood there and didn't say anything. I found it very odd considering normally you're greeted, asked how many in your party, reservations or some sort of acknowledgement from the staff. I especially expected more from a manager. I almost walked out considering we felt like an inconvenience to them. We stayed though and enjoyed the rest of the experience.
The crab cake, hanger steak, hash brown pave, and cocktails were all delicious. I wasn't the biggest fan of the gnocchi, creamed spinach, and sunchokes. I wish there was a more savory butter with the bread.
I’ve been meaning to visit Ada’s on the River for THE longest, and suffice to say… I’m GLAD I finally made it happen!!! What a gem of a restaurant with absolutely superb service.
As the name suggests, it is conveniently located on the waterfront - with options for indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant also has floor to ceiling windows which allows for beautiful natural light to flow into the space regardless of where you are seated.
From the warm welcome at the host stand, right through to our server at the table - the staff were all very personable and made the experience that much more special.
The food was all great!! The Giant Crab Cake came highly recommended from previous reviews as well as from members of the team at Ada’s… SO glad I went with that as my entrée because it was spectacular!!! Big lumps of crab meat, seasoning and little to no “filler” (if any at all)!!
The drinks were pretty good - but the food was what really won me over!!
This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. The service by Ali was amazing, and he made great suggestions. Got the octopus, which was so tender and delicious, a few other apps which we're equally delicious. Best surf and turf I've had in a while, and I definitely suggest getting the dessert.
