Tremendous fun. Great chap on the door, cold beers and flowing tequila. The DJ really got us going. If you’re peckish the insanest burrito’s are sold in the back.
Very basic, but an acceptable, clean place to stay for a night. WiFi is good. Location is also good if you want to be in Albert road area.
You'll get a text with the door code and details of how to find your room - no interaction with staff. Steep stairs up to the rooms - not for very tall people or those with reduced mobility.
Bathrooms are clean, with electric showers that get the job done. One towel provided. In the blue single room is an en-suite but doesn't have a door, only a curtain. Bathroom in the red single room is slightly down the hall, accessed from the very small kitchen area. Red room's bed was a bit creaky -.perhaps could do with tightening its bolts.
The kitchen area just has a microwave, fridge, kettle and sink, with a few bits of crockery and glasses - this is better than nothing and helpful if you wanted to have a cheap breakfast and not go out somewhere.
Started a new job in Portsmouth and needed a room for a few days while i found some digs. My room was nicely decorated with an en suite shower room. The place was spotless. No complaints. It's above a Mexican restaurant. Good room, good price, I'd come back here again.????
Most hotel comparison sites don't do the Acapulco Rooms justice. These rooms are a good little find. It is basically an unmanned small number of bedrooms. I stayed in the Grey Room. The rooms are named by colours rather than numbers. The main entrance is tucked away in Duncan Road. My room was clean and tidy. It had its own ensuite with bath and shower. There was a small window overlooking Albert Road. There is a kitchenette there for guests to use. I did not use it but it looked fine. It is a noisy area being on the busy and trendy Albert Road. Overall I thought it was very good and I would certainly stay there again. It was £34 for the night.
I guess that I should start this review with a question - "what do you expect for £43.50 early September in Portsmouth"?|I needed to stop over in Portsmouth for a 2nd night - all the usual hotels I would try (Premier Inn, Ibis, Travel Lodge etc.) were really expensive so I thought that I would risk the Acapaulco Rooms.|I have to be honest, I did not have a good stay.|To be fair it was probably one of the hotest nights this summer and the room was like an oven - even with the window fully open, which also allowed all the street noise.|I had the White Room on 1st floor, accessed by some really awkward stairs - Note that this is not a suitable location if you have any mobility issues.|The room was otherwise, just about OK, shower was in the room but private toilet was on the landing, with the fear that I would end up locking myself out of the room in the middle of the night!!|So, in summary, unfortunately, I did not enjoy my stay here :-(
I liked the cosy room which had a TV but there was no central heating on and because I already had to contact the manager about another issue I just kept warm with my hat and scarf on in the room. But the hot shower did help.
Very noisy from the bar???? situated under rooms (until 1a.m.) Not for those who expect peace! Clean and tidy! Great location, restaurants, bars, entertainment in the area. Beach and center not too far. Parking can be a problem, but in the evening the parking lot at the beach is free (8p.m. to 8a.m.). 15 min walk to the hotel.
It's Sunday fun day if it's dance music your bag the pop to the back to Belgrade for great atmosphere lots of fun and good company Friday I'm booking myself in for the weekend to stay and I will sample there menu there cocktails. Why you ask as they have always been respectful and support me in times of need that's the reason I do things like the batman do review to support local small business in what I regard to be my home town as well as London.
Don't fit get black balling sessions with the great Jonny spade one of southsea if not the best song writers from portsmouth but originally from Liverpool.
