She put in a bob and upon taking the braids out it was discovered that she had put way too much hair all along the front of my hair. She caused so much breakage and although the style looked nice it really defeated the purpose of a protective style. Additionally she knotted my REAL HAIR all along the top and did not tell me this at all. I lost so much hair going to her. This is the 2nd time I have tried a "professional" shop like this and I paid her 250.00 and sat for 9 hours. She put 10 packs of hair in my head and now I see it was way too much hair.
I took out the entire front row of braids and no one even could tell that I had taken the braids out until I took out the second row.
I was going to go back but I will never step foot in another african braiding shop because these places are quick to jack up the price once your in the chair, do all kinds of stuff to your beautiful healthy hair and have you looking crazy. It happened to me 2x so far and I will just go back to keeping my own hair done at a salon because I prefer for my hair to be healthy and not just trendy.
She did so much damage to my hair. Yes, It will look nice but beware of her knotting tactics and she will put big braids in the front and little tiny micro sheds in the front with lots of hair. ...just disrespectful to my crown.
Where do I start??? While I was get my hair braided well let me start here first she was 30 minutes late doing my hair and I had already made two appointments already and each time I would go she was late that should've told me something there. Then while she was about halfway finished with my hair someone brings her daughter and son to the salon so now she has all three of her children there while she's doing my hair so of course children being children you know they start getting anxious and don't want to sit so she had to stop every five minutes. So finally her oldest little girl Abby start saying mommy I'm hungry mommy I'm hungry so she stops and goes to get her little girl something to eat some other girl in the shop takes over. After she comes back the kids running around and she has to stop every few minutes. She finally finished my hair and she gets a lighter and starts lighting part of my hair and I told he to stop that's not necessary so she only uses the fire to do the left to do the left side of my head. Long story short I took my hair down and I have no edges on my left side my hair is burnt on the left side only. I started with 13 inches of healthy natural hair and now I had to have 5-6 inches cut because she burnt the left side. Do not go here very unprofessional the shop is like a day care. Not with clients kids with theirs. $150 down the toilet. Highly disappointed!!!!!!
I came across abys braiding and read the reviews and decide to give her a try. My experience wasn't bad but it wasn't the best. When I got there she took a while to do my hair and I was only getting jumbo cornrows going straight back. It took her three hours to do my hair, when usually it only takes an hour to do that kind of hairstyle. She did have her kids and her husband in the shop when I got there,but she didn't have to stop doing my hair for the kids or anything like that. My time is valuable and because of that I'm not going back. The price was decent but I don't mind paying a higher price for quality and efficency.
First off, I want to say that Aby is a very kind and sweet woman. I have gotten Kinky Twists done by her twice and she has done an exceptional job both times. I’m very particular on how I want my Kinky Twists done and she listened to all of my instructions on how I wanted them done. She was patient and understanding. She does not braid tight and she braids super fast. She started after 10:30am and she was done a little after 3 pm. That’s super fast to me because I got small-medium waist length Kinky Twist. Aby is number????????in my book. I always get a lot of compliments when I go out! Thank you Aby for your exceptional work and outstanding customer service! See you next time!????????.
My daughter recently got micro braids done by Aby. She loves them! Her work is excellent and the time it took was not bad at all. We were home before the sun went down which is a big deal for me. It was a set appointment and she only ran 5 minutes late. Yes, her kids were there, but she didn't let them slow her down. Her work was still top notch even with her kids there! Plus, if you don't have kids it would bother you more. I read the reviews before going and was already prepared in case so it didn't bother us at all.(also, I have kids myself and been in that situation of still needing to work with little kids). If you are looking for a great hair braider/stylist at a reasonable price, it's worth going to Aby. We will be returning customers. She gave my daughter hope again with braids after a terrible experience She had years ago. Thank you Aby!!
Very unprofessional. I scheduled an appointment with the owner to give me Marli twist and she said she would charge me $180 which I was okay with. But when I arrived she was not there, it was someone else named “Jennifer” there to do my hair because the owner neglected to tell me that she wasn’t showing up because she was sick. Jennifer had an attitude and tried to charge me $250 after I already talked about the price with the owner. Also my appointment was at 10:00 and Jennifer did not start on my hair until 30 mins later because she wanted to finish her breakfast. The job Jennifer did was awful, the parts were not neat, I had twist coming out the 2nd day after getting my hair done and the owner refused to give me my money back, not even half of my money back. I kept the twist for a couple of days before I took them out because it couldn’t even last. I do not recommend for anyone to go here. You can find so many talented braiders on Facebook in the Tampa area for much cheaper and they will provide the hair!
Aby's shop is very professional and timely. My daughter and I have been coming here for awhile. Everyone in the shop is very nice and friendly. They get right down to business, once you sit in the chair. I highly recommend, Aby's African Hair Braiding. Keep up the good work ladies.
Aby showed up late then she didn't feel good then called someone else in to do my hair and my hair was not consist with what aby started off with. She told me one price over the phone then charged me another once I sat in the chair and they have a sign say pay before your service start. I probably will not go back their. My experience was not good.
