Had a fry up, very expensive for what was a very average experience. Very small breakfast for £8.50 and only the bacon was worth eating. Toast wasn't buttered which is a pet peeve, I don't want to smear cold butter on top of my already cold toast! Considering this is next to Sainsbury's which serves an excellent mid quality breakfast for a fiver and Mill Street Kitchen which for 50p more serves something with a more personal touch and is twice the size I don't understand why you'd ever go here. New to Leek and was excited to try all the new local cafés but unfortunately this one can be checked off the list as a two star experience.
Lovely food, very friendly. We have moved away from Stoke now, but when we lived there, this was a regular place to visit in Leek we do miss it. We still make a point of calling in whenever we are in the area. They make wonderful pies, and the cheese, onion and potato, meat and potato pies and quiche are gorgeous. The plates of food are very generous and served very quickly. Love this place.
Made another visit to Leek for yet another gorgeous meal, this time though we had ordered 2 cheese, onion and potato pies in advance to take home they do pies for 1, 2 or 4 people. They were gorgeous as always. Can't wait for another trip to Leek to pick up some more pies to take home and have another delicious dine in experience.
We decided to try the cafe inside the garden centre for a breakfast cob and hot drink on our way to an event near Knutsford.
We discovered that it was dog friendly, so we took our dog inside with us. The cafe area is very dated and had an eclectic feel. After looking at the menu we ordered two breakfast cobs (sausage, egg & mushrooms) and two pots of tea from a polite lady behind a counter.
The food arrived promptly and we were looking forward to eating it. Unfortunately, after the first bite our tastebuds were just picking up on grease and nothing else. The sausages were cheap quality, full of gristle and tasteless, the mushrooms were full of grease too, the only item that was okay were the fried eggs. Our hot drinks weren’t much better! The tea bags used were also low quality. All in all, if you like to have tasteless food that is cheap quality then go here otherwise just visit the garden centre for plants etc.
Visited here a few weeks ago with family. The majority of the food was nice apart from one meal which was cheese on toast, which I had to send back as the cheese was that chewy and stringy, my elderly relative couldn't eat it.
I informed the members of staff and the meal was soon replaced with an alternative one.
Love Ajs. Whether it’s a cuppa and a piece of delicious cake with the girls (the rocky road and chocolate brownies are a particular favourite) or lunch with my daughter it’s so lovely to get a smile and a bit of chat from the team. The cheese scones are delicious, my daughter loves the cheesy oatcakes and you can’t go wrong with one of their specials.....especially a meat and potato pie. My hubby loves a good breakfast on the weekend too. It’s a family affair for us just like it is for the team there. They treat you like family.
Locally sourced produce producing locally developed products that are second to none. You can't beat the meaty and hearty pies. My pie for one was enough to feed two - perfect. Great value when either sitting in, taking away or having a meal or event delivered. AJ's Catering have even been a fantastic support to my grandparents who have enjoyed hot Sunday roasts and pies too.
Went 2 weeks ago after not going for a few years. It was average back then, but very depressing now. Asked for a glass of fresh orange and got a scratched up old half pint plastic beaker that was just over half filled. My husband had a pot of tea. Teaspoon was highly stained like it had been rough washed, and they shouldn't be allowed to serve the milk in the metal jugs, they have years of ground in dried milk that is stuck to the insides. Very dangerous! Husband ordered a breakfast and it was the most expensive yet smallest and awful breakfast hes had. Small portion and the eggs were so runny I'm surprised they wernt clucking! The cutlery was longer than the late was wide and for the price...astonishing and wrong! I had sausage, egg and chips. One small sausage, the same awful sloppy runny uncooked egg as my husband, and what they believe were chips. The only reason the food (minus the eggs which were slipped onto the paper towel we found) was because we were hungry, shame as we left still hungry and had to go elsewhere despite paying what we did. One thing to note, the lady serving only smiled and spoke pleasant with those she knew. If you're a regular.. the portion size is great...as we noticed with a couple of other customers. Very biased and wrong. It still makes me thirsty knowing I paid for a full glass of juice and got the best of 2 mouthfuls. Awful place and grotty. The only bonus was we sat looking out at the outdoor part of the garden centre.
This is a 2 part review:
1. Written on behalf of my Father in law who doesn’t do technology without frustration ???? He has been a customer of AJ’s for many years and he says the standard is consistently high and exceptional value for money. The way in which Ant and his team have provided a service and lifeline to many throughout the pandemic has been a credit to them.
2. On behalf of myself the introduction of the takeaway service for hot, cold and frozen meals not forgetting the amazing value afternoon teas, have been received very well not just by ourselves but our friends and family as well. The main thing that really makes AJ’s stand out is the quality of his ingredients, in particular his meat. I have no hesitation in recommending this friendly family business for any outside catering requirements or a relaxing meal in the cafe at Bridgend garden centre.
